The Curriculum

The class teacher is a child’s mainstay, ensuring stability and continuity – although there are specialist teachers in French, ICT, Music, PE, and Speech and Drama.

The National Curriculum is used as a guide to our enhanced and demanding school curriculum; it is designed to serve the requirements of our chosen senior schools.

Parents’ Evenings, which include target setting and review, are held twice a year. Further optional appointments being available in the summer after the parents receive a full written report from their child’s class teacher. Close parent-teacher contact is maintained at all times. Homework link books are used by all the children to promote good communication between home and school.

Whilst we allocate much of each morning to the study of Mathematics, English and Science, we always remember the importance of a curriculum that has both breadth and depth. Much cross-curricular work is conducted between Arts, Sciences and ICT and we see the product of such an investment in the excellent 11+ results each and every year.

The children develop independence and responsibility, tolerance and respect. Supportive staff encourage individuality and self-confidence in preparation for their senior school environment.

Our curriculum encourages a love of learning and rewards every child.
