School Assemblies

Buxlow places a good deal of importance in ensuring that all the children in the school come together regularly to share their talents perform as part of a group or learn something new from a visiting speaker.

We regularly have talks from visitors of other faiths, helping our pupils to learn more about, for example,Christianity, Islam,Judaism or Hinduism. We have also had interesting talks from charities that the school is supporting - these charities have included Barnadoes, NSPCC and the Air Ambulance.

Once a week we hold a class assembly. This is an opportunity for each class to share with the other children a project that they have been working on or to describe a visit that the class has made to a museum or art gallery. As this starts right from the very youngest children in the Reception class, it is a opportunity to promote self confidence and encourage public speaking skills.

The final assembly of the week is on Friday and is a chance to celebrate all the wonderful work achieved that week. Certificates are awarded for effort, attainment and good behaviour and house points are announced and raffle prizes drawn.
