Choosing Buxlow

Buxlow for your Child?

At Buxlow we aim to do more than simply teach young children. Rather, we introduce them to the pleasure of learning, stimulating their curiosity, their competitive spirit and their imagination.

Along the way they learn that nothing worthwhile is achieved without effort and following a task through until it is finished. This is the underlying theme of our school prayer and song.

“When we have a task to do help us to try our hardest and understand that it is not the beginning but the continuing of the same until it is thoroughly finished which yields the true glory”

Buxlow is a happy school and a successful one, with an excellent record of 11+ Examination results. Places are offered to our pupils at many of the prestigious secondary independent and grammar schools in London together with a number of scholarships.

While our academic record is outstanding, we are equally concerned with fostering the kind of skills that help young people grow into capable young adults with a sense of self-worth.

The curriculum at Buxlow is strongly academic and at the same time, progressive. All of our pupils learn computer skills and French is taught from the age of four. In addition, we are also a practical, “hands on” school where skills learnt in Design and Technology days sit comfortably alongside more formal subjects. While our curriculum is broad-based, our values are traditional. For many of the pupils at Buxlow, social life revolves around the extra-curricular clubs at the end of each school day.

At Buxlow we prepare our pupils for the outside world by teaching them to be confident and capable. We believe in courtesy, consideration and personal responsibility. We teach all our pupils to respect their fellow pupils, their school and the environment. Most of all we teach them to believe in themselves.
