Welcome to Buxlow Prep School

I hope you will enjoy a brief tour around our school on this website, and that it will encourage you to come and visit us. You will have a meeting with me, the Headmistress and I will show you around the school and you will meet the teachers and see the pupils at work.

For over eighty years Buxlow Preparatory School has been renowned for the high quality of education that it offers to boys and girls and we all work together within a small caring community to develop academic potential to the full.

A strong system of pastoral care is in place and with so many families having children of different ages in the school, many of our visitors have commented on the school's friendly family atmosphere. This means that you can leave your child each day in the knowledge that they will be safe and cared for.

At Buxlow we believe that by encouraging each child to develop their talents, they will flourish and gain the knowledge, confidence and skills that will stand them in good stead for their future years.

The Independent Schools Inspection of 2013 found that “throughout the school including the EYFS, pupils achieve highly and make excellent progress” and that “attainment is judged to be well above average compared with national age-related expectations”

They also found that “the school fulfils its aim to provide a happy, caring environment where the uniqueness of each child is recognised” and that “the school provides a positive, friendly and warm environment where pupils are happy and confident and where successes are celebrated”

11 Plus Success at Buxlow

We would like to congratulate the Year 6 pupils on their results in the 11 plus entrance exams. The 11 pupils who applied for Independent and Grammar Schools received a total of 25 offers of places and 5 scholarships at;
