Pastoral Care

As St Nicholas School is such a small school we all know each other very well.  We feel that it is important for the children to feel happy and safe in order to reach their full potential.  Our small classes and family atmosphere ensure children feel comfortable and at ease at all times. 

Through our house system and School Council the children mix across the age groups, have positions of responsibility and are involved in decision making and how the school moves forward.  All members of our school community are polite and courteous towards each other.  Good manners and respect are highly valued and are rooted in our school’s long history.

With a maximum of 10 children in the Lower Nursery, Upper Nursery and Reception classes, children in the Early Years benefit from individual attention from our qualified and experienced teachers.

From Years 1 to Year 6 children are taught in a well resourced and stimulating environment, in combined classes of up to 20 children.  Classes are split into smaller groups for guided reading, French, music, speech and drama, ICT and 11+ preparations.
